Also it takes 2-3 hours if you dont know what your doing and is alot better then risking the chance of breaking a valve which then means BIGGGGG money. Just rip it apart and redo it. As he said only the marks on the belt and the gears them selves matter nothing else. By the time you test you timing and crap you could have it ripped apart and almost put back together which is what youll have to do in the end.
Make sure its right and then if its not running you can worry about cleaning your connections and stuff.
